I'm thrilled to not only finish my take on one of Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2016; but to also have it up on my blog before the last week of the month! This month's tag is a remix of Tim's Watercolor Resist Technique and his Layered Words Technique. He has a great tutorial on his blog for all the details of his
July Tag for 2016.
My tag follows his techniques pretty closely. I chose to do a lighter wash of color (with Antique Linen, Weathered Wood and Mustard Seed Distress Markers) on my focal image (from Tim's Time Travelers Set) and a more saturated color palette for the background. I stamped my background with parts of Tim's gears blueprint stamp. After I applied the Micro Glaze to my Time Traveler, I spritzed around the edges with Spice Marmalade Distress Spray Stain. I blotted my image vary carefully to remove the stain splatters from the Time Traveler. Then I began coloring the gears with Distress Markers and using a water brush to blend stain and marker together. I was really amazed how this turned out!
With my bold colors and stamped images in the background, I really needed to outline my diecut "IN TIME" letters. This gives theses words an almost comic book print look. So cool. I gave the "moments" word some high lights with a white gel pen and added Glossy Accents over top.
Here's another view of my completed tag. I've put this on my nephew's 17th birthday card. I think it's one of my favorite Tim tags that I've made. I hope you've enjoyed dropping by and looking at it as well. Thanks for visiting. Hope you all had a great weekend! -- Mary Elizabeth

Brilliantly put together Mary Elizabeth, the strong background colours, the bold image and the delicate colouring of him really stand out as do your outlined letters. Love this xxx
Cracking tag - love the stamping on the ribbon and the glossy 'moments' looks amazing. Great detailing with the clock brads too, echoing the one he's holding. He really pops against the glowing background.

Great tag. It's a wonderful interpretation of the July Tim tag. The whole theme is so nicely composed.
How unbelievably cool! I really love the die cut words/window! What a great detail. <3
Hi there Mary Elizabeth! This looks really dandy and dapper! Fabulous tag with several standout elements, eg the white on the moments, or the way all the background shading is done. Very nice work indeed! I hope that all is as well as possible with you. Nicola x
