Summer of Creative Chemistry 2016: Week 6 -- Layered Stencils

Hi everyone!  It's Week 6 of Tim Holtz's Summer of Creative Chemistry.  Yes ... I missed Week 5 along with my June Tag for 2016.  It has been of a chaotic couple of weeks.  I seem to be seeing the United States by hospitals this summer.  Fortunately I have not been the patient this time around :)!  I have had several friends with major health issues this summer and I've traveled to support them.  I've got to say, there's not a lot of room in a hospital waiting room to do crafts!

So, this week's challenge is about combining two different layering stencil techniques.  I started with this tag where I did the Embossing Through Stencils on the numbers.

After inking the background with Distress Ink, I then tried a little water misting through Tim's flourish stencil (not a technique directly taught, but one mentioned by Tim in one of his videos).  I loved it so much that I tried a second tag (see below)

I used some of Tim's dies and other embellishments to finish the tag.  Here's another view of the entire tag so you can see the 3D feel of this tag.

Now for my second tag using the same two stencils.

I did a mixed media technique here with Distress Paint (numbers) and Distress Ink (pink flourish).

I then came back and misted the flourish stencil.

One more pic of the entire tag.

Hope to be back soon to check out what you've been doing!!  Thanks for dropping by -- Mary Elizabeth

Ooh, yes - you're right about that water misting - looks stunning on the second tag. You'll probably guess that the first one is my favourite of the two - wonderful colours and such depth in the background and dimension on those numbers. Brilliant work. Hope you get some more crafting time soon, and that your friends make smooth recoveries all round.
